Vacation Blogging

So I left for Cali on August 5th and I'm still enjoying the beautiful weather and the company of my family. It's hard to be away from home for so long, but it's nice to have a break. I really miss my husband and I feel bad because he is home working and busy packing and moving things to our new apartment, but I'm sure he's doing a much better job than I would do. The last few weeks have been quite eventful. First I got an A in my last graded class for my master's...yay! I will graduate with a 4.0 GPA :) Also, my hubby got a promotion at work. I'm so excited for him and he truly deserved the position. He is such a hard worker and very dedicated to his job and his coworkers. I am so proud of him and I can't wait to celebrate when I get home. For the first 6 days I was here in CA, I was down at my grandparents' timeshare in Carlsbad. It was gorgeous every day of the week. We had beautiful blue skies, the ocean was amazing, and it was nice to spend time with family. My grandparents' have owned this timeshare since I was 2 years old. We have made some life long friends that own the same week as well. It was nice to visit with them and then have some of our own friends come visit. On Sunday before we headed home, my mom, my sister, and I went to Miramar, the marine base and received a tour. Molly, one of my high school friend's sister, is based out of Miramar. She was able to take us around the base which was such a neat experience. Then we went to visit one of my roommates from college who lives near San Diego. It was nice to see her and her kitties. She is painting this beautiful picture of me from my wedding, I can't wait to put it up somewhere. That night we drove back to San Pedro (I hate traffic in the Southern California area). We got to meet my grandmother's new boyfriend for the first time. He's nice and sweet, but he has Alzheimer's and he doesn't remember anything so it's a little strange. On Monday, we met my dad's side of the family for dinner and it was really nice to hang out and spend some time with them. Then on Tuesday my mom and my brother headed home. Later that day my sister and I went shopping, then we went to dinner at a Cuban restaurant with one of my aunts. We had a lot of fun. I love spending time with my sister. Although there are times we don't get along, we have a great time together most of the time and I really miss her when she's gone. I got up really early on Wednesday morning and took my sister to the airport. Then it was just me left with my grandmother. The rest of the day on Wednesday and Thursday were pretty uneventful. On Thursday evening my grandma and I went to the mall and I got some cute work clothes. Then on Friday, we went to Body Worlds 3. It was really neat, but it didn't seem real to me. It's real bodies that have been plasticized, but they didn't look real to me. The only thing that looked real was the fetus section. It was amazing to see how fetuses grow. I didn't realize that at 9 weeks in utero that the baby has fingers and toes. It was absolutely amazing. After we went through the exhibit we decide to get lunch. Most normal people would go sit down somewhere or drive through somewhere and get lunch. Oh no, not us. I decided we should be tourists and go to this famous hot dog stand called Pinks in LA. Well, we waited in line for over an hour to get a bacon chili dog and chili cheese fries. It was good, but I would never do it again. We kept saying we were crazy, but we did it just to say we did it. It's amazing how many people wait in line for those hot dogs. I have pictures but I'll post them later as I did not bring the cord to upload pics to my computer. Saturday was a day for relaxation. We spent the day at home and then we went to church and dinner. My grandma and I went to a very nice dinner at a place I had considered for my wedding reception. It was right near the chapel we got married at, but I didn't want to have to figure out seating because it was restaurant seating. Anyway, it was a nice dinner on the water. Yesterday, I got my nails done, went to visit my Aunt Helen (my grandfather's sister), had dinner with my grandmother, then went over to my aunt's house and hung out with her and my cousin. Today my grandmother and I went to Wayfarer's chapel where my hubby and I got married, then we had lunch and came home. Tonight we are going to dinner where we had our reception. The rest of the week is pretty busy too. Tomorrow I am taking my cousins to the beach then I am going to dinner with other family at a Cuban restaurant. Wednesday I am going to get my hair cut, pick up some Sees candy, and then go to a meeting with my aunt. Thursday I head home. I'm going to miss my family, but I'm looking forward to seeing my husband and getting moved into our new apartment. I'll post again probably when I get home and have started moving into the new apartment.
